Dolphin Pool Cleaner Cord Tangled? How to Fix & Prevent It

Dolphin robotic pool cleaner

A tangled floating cable is the most annoying Dolphin fault — the robot's reach shrinks, corners stay dirty, and every session starts with wrestling a blue spiral. The cable twists because the robot turns in the same direction more than the other; the fix is part untwisting, part prevention.

Untwist it properly (once)

  1. Disconnect the cable from the power supply.
  2. Stretch the full length out on the lawn or deck in the sun for an hour — warmth relaxes the memory in the jacket.
  3. Working from the robot end, run the cable through your hand to the plug end, letting the twist spin out at the free end.
  4. Reconnect, and lay the cable in wide, loose loops beside the pool — never a tight coil.

Check the swivel

Most current Dolphins have a swivel joint in the cable that lets twist escape during the cycle. Hold the cable each side of the swivel and rotate: it should spin freely. A seized swivel (scale and grit are the usual cause) turns the anti-tangle cable into an ordinary one — soak the joint in warm water, work it free, or have the swivel section replaced.

Prevent the twist coming back

A cable that tangles severely within a single cycle even after all this usually means a seized swivel or a cable that's taken a permanent set — both replaceable. See the parts guide for what's replaceable, and the troubleshooting hub for every other symptom.
